Kinyan Academy · In Development

Every skill of Torah learning. Acquired, one step at a time.

Kinyan Academy is an online, skills-based Torah academy now in development — modeled after Khan Academy, and built on the conviction that animates all of Kinyan’s work: learning is real only when it is acquired.

The mission

To create world-class, skills-based Torah education.

Whether the learner is a student, a teacher, a home-schooler, a principal, or an adult returning to the classroom after twenty years, Kinyan Academy’s materials and resources are being built to serve them all.

The Knowledge Roadmap

At the heart of the Academy is a mastery-based Knowledge Roadmap — a map of every skill and concept integral to Torah learning, in the order a learner acquires them:

  1. Reading

From aleph-beis and nekudos, through blending letters and vowels, to reading words and simple sentences.

  2. Vocabulary and grammar

The key vocabulary of Sefer Bereishis and the foundations of Hebrew grammar.

  3. Chumash

All five seforim — with Rashi, Onkelos, and trup — built skill by skill, from basic decoding to literal translation and analysis.

  4. Halacha, Tanach, Mishna, and Gemara skills

The tools of the next stages of learning, each mapped and mastered in sequence.

  5. Independent learning

The destination of the Roadmap: a learner who can open Rishonim and Acharonim and learn them independently.

Every step is mastery-based: a learner advances when a skill is acquired, not when the calendar says so.

How the Academy will work

  • Adaptive practice

Skills are practiced through interactive challenges, games, and assessments that adapt to each learner’s pace.

  • Visibility for parents and teachers

Dashboards give parents, teachers, and coaches clear sight of what a student is learning, where they are strong, and where they need help.

  • Mastery, measured

Learners see their own progress in real data — every skill, every step, building toward independent Torah learning.

The first application: basic biblical literacy

The Academy’s first application, now in development, teaches basic biblical literacy for children ages 3–5 — the opening steps of the Roadmap, from letter recognition through reading.
